Words of Christ and His Spirit are our Light.
Those who still rule this world have devised a strategy to diminish that Light—so it will no longer be so obvious, so vivid. It must be hidden, distorted, diffused, so that God will no longer guide the nations, but they may rule their “empires” instead.
It is not easy to conceal the Word once it has been written and copied, but one can try to extinguish the Spirit: to make people forget Him, to render the Church barren. The most effective method is to cover Him with regulations and rules, ensuring that everything rests on written law. The inner Law cannot remain alive, for it cannot be controlled.
The Church must be made wholly dependent on human structures—on individual effort, on hierarchy—while the Spirit is reduced to an empty ritual. Let the laying on of hands be nothing more than a symbol. It cannot, under any circumstances, become a transmission of the inner experience of love’s fire in the heart! Otherwise, all our cherished empires will collapse. The common people cannot be allowed to discover, as Christ taught and the Holy Spirit makes real, that in Him and through Him they may become gods, sons of the Most High. In such a case, our self-proclaimed “divine authority” would appear utterly pathetic. No one would believe in our divinity…
Long live Caesar! Death to the Spirit!
The ruler of this world was cast out long ago, and now he finds his only support in you—children squabbling over sandcastles, builders constructing on sand with none of the basic knowledge required. There is no foundation but Christ! All your houses of cards will fall.
Awake, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and may the Beloved shine upon you. In the name of Christ, Holy Church, arise from your tomb!
